the 1970’s
I’ve had the pleasure of shooting two music videos set in 1970’s Australia. These are passion projects as mine, as I adore the aesthetic of the decade, so much so that my whole house, my car and a lot of my clothes look like they’ve come out of a time machine. I’m often told I was born in the wrong generation.
These videos are nostalgic of a more simple time, before technology took over our social interactions. A time when kids would play outside until the street lights came on, the cars were mostly Australian made and built like tanks, the music was played with real instruments and the fashion was bright and patterned.
I organised the wardrobe, locations, props and set design for both of these videos, and was lucky enough to have some great friends with classic cars get involved in the Danitchy project. I also directed, shot and edited each film.

Zachary Leo approached me with an idea for his new music video as he had seen photos of my house, which is a real 70’s time warp, and asked if I’d be open to letting him use it for his video. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, and offered to film it myself, as I’ve been wanting to follow up ‘Pollen” with another 70’s music video. Working with Zach was great, we both agreed on everything and shared a passion for vinyl records and the 70’s.
Set in the late 1970's in Australia, Tracey rekindles her relationship by employing Love From Productions to shoot a personalised love song dedication film with her partner Paul's favourite musician, Zachary Leo.
The video cuts between Paul and Tracey watching the film, where I used muted warm tones to create a sense of nostalgia, and the film itself, which I shot handheld and applied a number of effects to achieve the super 8 film look.
Other music films
Although I am very passionate about a generation that ended almost 20 years before I was born, I have also produced Music films in different styles.
‘Natalieves’ was shot in a day where we took a bunch of props to a park with no plan, and had fun with it.
‘The Pre’s Song’ was shot handheld on a Saturday night at a Danitchy show, encompassing the raw aspect of live music.
Music films can vary in length, style, objective and content. I am always excited to work with new people, and can produce videos in a range of styles.
